are they going to get spirited away
[Panicking, Lio grabbed the dragon by the jaws, trying to pry them open and off of Galo's arm. He already had damage to his one arm, he didn't need to go losing the other.
He was lucky, the dragon didn't seem to be actually clamping down too hard on Galo's arm, though it was being a bit stubborn in letting go, tugging and pulling as if to try and drag Galo away.]
Let go of him, you stupid lizard!!
[Lio kicked the thing, hard, right in the chest. That got the creature's attention, and it let go of Galo, instead going to grab Lio's leg with its jaws - the one that did the kicking - and Lio hit the floor as it started dragging him towards the hole in the wall.]
Wha-- let go of me!! [Lio reached back for Galo's hand.] Galo, do something!!
:x
This is the worst... hold on Lio, I'm coming!
( he shook his arm off, to get the drool off, before he leaped into the air and landed on the dragon with all his weight. of course, this did absolutely nothing to get lio's leg free. even as galo wrapped his arms around the neck of the great lizard, it didn't see anything that either of them did as being even remotely threatening. )
Uh. Lio? It really didn't hurt me. It's not hurting you, right?
( honestly if the dragon really wanted to, it probably could've killed them both fast. )
no subject
[Lio shouted as Galo jumped onto the dragon's back, while the dragon continued to tug on Lio's leg like it was a toy.]
No it's not hurting me, but that doesn't mean I want my leg in its mouth!
[It really was acting like a big dog that had zero concept of discipline. And Lio really knew nothing about how to handle dogs, given he'd never owned a pet in his entire life.
The dragon reared back a bit, shifting its grip on Lio from his leg to his waist, lifting him entirely off the ground in its mouth like he was a limp ragdoll, which elicited none too few curses from the blonde's mouth. This was infinitely worse than having just his leg trapped. Lio was smacking it in the snout as it started carrying both him and Galo back towards the hole in the wall, starting to wiggle its body through.]
Crap, I think it's trying to drag us somewhere! Pin its wings or something before it takes off!
no subject
( when was galo not doing his best??? he watched somewhat helplessly as they made their way to the opening of their apartment, hoping that lio would keep his leg after this... it was reassuring to hear that he was fine. maybe not at the cost of potentially getting 'abducted' by the dragon, but. still. )
Got it! Maybe that'll be enough to get it to let you go?
( he's already close to its wings, and he quickly moved back so he straddled its back. with his knees, he pressed against the base of each wing as tightly as he could.
the dragon, confused by galo's actions, immediately stopped to look back and whined softly. )
... I don't know where you want to take us, but you could've asked first.
( because talking to the dragon worked so well in the first place. )
Lio, see if you can get out!
no subject
At least the confused dragon had stopped in its efforts to try and drag the pair out the hole in the wall as soon as Galo pinned its wings down. It seemed to be now getting the idea that they weren't willing to go with it, as eager as it was to fly away with them.]
Galo, I don't know if you noticed, but the thing's got my whole torso in its mouth!
[Lio twisted a bit as he bapped the thing's snout again to get its attention. And with his most intimidating, commanding, Mad Burnish™ voice:]
Drop me, right now.
[The dragon seemed to hesitate. But after a moment, opened its mouth and let Lio drop to the floor with a thud. How the thing had managed to be gentle enough to avoid putting teeth marks in him would forever remain a mystery to Lio.
It looked at Lio with sad puppy eyes first, then - after finding no sympathy in the ex-burnish's face - back at Galo.]

buppy dragon... )
Don't be too upset, okay? ( carefully, he placed his hand on the dragon's face, right over its snout and gave its nose a few pats. ) Neither of us are hurt. The only thing that's hurt is our kitchen.
( which to be fair? probably a big deal. )
Lio. ( it was his turn to put on the most serious face that he could, as he went over to lio and took both of his hands in his own. ) Do you think... we can keep it?
no subject
asked him the most asinine question he'd ever heard coming from the firefighter's mouth. Which was really, really saying something.
Lio's mouth was agape, his eyes wide in utter disbelief.]
.... This thing just broke into our house through our window and destroyed half our kitchen, tried grabbing both of us to fly us off to who the hell knows where, can fit its entire mouth around your arm or my leg like we're easy meals, and you want to keep it?
[Lio looked between the dragon - who was still pulling those puppy dog eyes at the two of them - and Galo, who was on the brink of pulling almost an identical face. He pulled one of his hands away from Galo and flicked him on the nose.]
No we can't keep it!!
no subject
Well, I tried.
( he shrugged with a sad smile, continuing to give the dragon facepats. it was certainly calmer than it was before, even going so far as to nuzzling galo's hand. )
I think that if it really wanted to do damage on purpose, it would've. But maybe it just wanted to show us something?
( something away from their place, which probably needed some work done. that or science/magic. chroma probably would fix it. )
no subject
[It was really cute watching Galo interact with the animal, honestly. But Lio wasn't going to say that out loud or indulge him or the dragon in any way. Still, Lio's suspicions about Galo being good with animals seemed to be finally proven true.]
I don't really care what it wanted, I'm still mad about the damage. I'm going to have to call the building manager for repairs, and we won't have a kitchen for... I have no idea how long it would take to fix something like this.
no subject
( truly a philosophical question for the ages. galo slowly pat the dragon one final time before pulling his hand back. the dragon instantly moved to push its muzzle into galo's stomach. )
... hey, that just means one thing. We're going to have to start a tab with the local pizzeria.
( another tab, he meant. )
I'm sure it won't take long. I'll even help out!
no subject
[What kind of question was that, Galo?
Ugh the dragon begging for pets and cuddles from Galo was really sweet - so sweet Lio could almost feel his teeth forming cavities. But no, they could not keep a dragon as a pet, no goddamn way.
...
Maybe a dog. Galo would probably love to own a dog.]
Do you even know the first thing about kitchen repairs? [He clicked his tongue as he put one hand on his hip while reassessing all the damage. Would they have to pay for this?? It wasn't their fault a wild animal broke in through their third story window. As it was, all the take out they were going to have to order while they were without a functioning kitchen was going to cost them a pretty penny.]
Whatever... that's not my main concern right now. I'm trying to figure out how we get this thing out without it doing any more damage to the apartment. Clearly it was barely big enough to fit through the hole it made to begin with. Will it even fit through our front door?
no subject
You'd be surprised how often I break things in the first place.
( walls, appliances, vehicles, bones... but he could figure it out, given some time. they also had a ton of chroma to begin with. )
We'll just have to make a bigger hole for it to get out of, through the kitchen.
( he gestured toward the almost dragon-sized entrance/exit. as he approached it, galo stuck his head out... definitely visible from the outside. )
no subject
Lio couldn't help the dry chuckle at Galo admitting he breaks things.]
Actually... no, I wouldn't be. But I am surprised you would know how to fix the things you break.
[He rubbed the back of his neck in irritation, though, at Galo's next suggestion... looking between the dragon, the hole, the front door, and the hole again, which Galo was now sticking halfway out of.]
Careful. [Lio sighed, as he approached the hole as well, gripping onto Galo's arm tightly to support him while he looked outside.] As much as I hate to say it, that's actually probably one of your better ideas. It's not like an extra foot or two of damage is going to make any difference. We don't exactly have a sledge hammer or anything lying around, though. Any more bright ideas on how we make it bigger?
no subject
( this, however, would probably not work well with the wall that their kitchen has. or had. it's definitely not a wall right now. he did appreciate having lio act as a support, because a fall would certainly prove to be very... painful. but he made sure to keep his body out of the hole, only using his head to peer through. )
... the dragon can do it. We can bait it through! ( and then his eyes widened. ) What if we rode it out, so that we know it'll be safe?
( the sad dog-gon lifted its head, tail wagging as it's acknowledged. )
no subject
[Lio looked back at the dragon which was looking just a little too pleased at the suggestion.]
Can the thing even fly while carrying the both of us??
no subject
... well, kind of. But we weren't both on its back, so maybe it'll be different.
( the dragon looked up and away, as if it was saying 'nope'. galo continued to stroke up and down its head as he retreated from the escape hole. )
Maybe it could help us break the wall a little more. At this point, probably doesn't hurt...
no subject
He grit his teeth, weighing his options. They had to get the thing out of here... and if Galo tried to ride the thing by himself, there was no telling what disaster would befall him. Lio definitely wasn't going to let him go off on his own, not again.
He thumped his foot in frustration.]
I wish I could still fly.
[Shaking his head, Lio knelt down by the dragon, which really was relatively big compared to the smaller man.]
Not sure if you can actually understand me but... you think you can break this wall a little more? Will you do it if we get on your back?
[Lio looked back to Galo, to see if his animal lover boyfriend could interpret the dragon's will here.]
no subject
as lio asked, the dragon made what could be either one of two things: a squeak of approval that came with no consequences, or a squeak of approval that came with the obvious foreboding smile of a lizard who will totally take advantage of them both.
but yes. it nodded, and galo hummed. )
I think it can. But, uh... hopefully we don't go anywhere we don't want.
( or maybe the dragon just wanted the feeling of having a rider, something that most dragons probably don't necessarily want? either way: )
Okay. I'm going to climb on. When you get on, it'll charge.
( which sounded pretty dangerous but honestly it was about time for them all to move on with their lives. )
no subject
[Wow this thing was really intelligent. More than a regular animal, that was for sure. The fact that it was nodding to what he was saying... Lio shook his head.
He grabbed Galo's arm tightly as Galo moved to climb onto the dragon's back, ready to yank him off if the dragon decided to just take off running before Lio got on. So far, though, as Galo got on, it was waiting...
So Lio climbed on behind Galo, wrapping his arms tightly around Galo's waist, and settling down.]
... This is such a bad idea.
[Of course that little realization was just a little too late as, like Galo said, the thing went charging at the hole in the wall full speed ahead.]
no subject
( even the dragon was grinning, turning its head and giving both of its passengers a wink before plowing through the wall. at first, it struggled to carry them, losing some altitude as its wings struggled to keep them in the air.
galo dug his heels into their mount's side, as he wrapped his arms around its neck. )
Please, don't let us down! It's really far!
( but it did perservere, able to steady itself out. galo kept his eyes shut the entire time, not realizing that they were safe. )
no subject
This was it. This was how they were going to die. All because Lio couldn't fly anymore.
Except the sensation of falling suddenly stopped as the dragon stabilized, regaining altitude and keeping them aloft.
Lio's hands were shaking and he also refused to open his eyes or look down, just clutching Galo's waist.]
I told you this was a bad idea!!
no subject
when was lio never wrong, though??? )
Oh. We're good.
( keeping lio's hands around his waist, he slowly climbed off while letting lio cling onto him. )
Thanks friend! You sure you don't wanna stay with us?
no subject
God, everything was so much more dangerous when you weren't burnish.
Opening his eyes slowly, he glanced past Galo at the dragon, then at their surroundings as a whole.]
... If it was just going to bring us back down here... why did we climb on the thing in the first place... [A small groan of regret escaped him as he hugged onto Galo tighter.] Stop asking it to stay with us, we just proved our apartment is way too small to house a dragon anyway.
[Of course, with the way they were racking up funds, perhaps they could afford a nicer place soon - maybe even a small house - but Lio liked their apartment. He wasn't going to give it up for a high maintenance too-smart-for-its-own-good pet.]
no subject
( he couldn't blame the dragon for wanting to give them one final ride. giving lio one finally snug, he let the other down while still giving him support so he didn't collapse. as the dragon took one final look at the two, it stuck its tongue out while looking incredibly pleased. )
If you ever need a place to crash, you're always welcome!
( but in reality, galo knew they could never take care of one (1) dragon puppy. too much for either of them to deal with. still...
probably not the best choice of words. probably. )
no subject
With a glare, first at Galo, then at the dragon, Lio shook his head.]
Absolutely not. No crashing at our place ever again. Find someone with a yard next time, or a bigger window!
[He pinched Galo on the cheek once more.]
Look, if you want a pet so bad, we'll find something else we can actually take care of, okay?
